Hi Peter,

I believe the ancestor you are referring to is JohannVoltrauer.   He is the cousin of mydirect ancestor Nikolaus Voltrauer. Their grandfather, Urban, was born in Volderau Tirol, from where he got hisfamily name, Volderauer (Foltrauer, Volltrauer, Woltrager, and many more).  Johann ended up in Traunau (Alunis), Rumaniaand Nikolaus in Mastort, Serbia.  Two ofNikolaus Voltrauer’s sons settled in Pardan Yugoslavia (Meda, Serbia) where I wasborn.  The attached is from Wilhelm andKallbrunner’s book.  Quellen zurdeutschen Siedlungsgeschichte in Suedosteuropa, page 243. Johann is number45.

I have more detail about the Volltrauers, let me know whatyou are interested in.

Hermann Volltrauer

Hi Ian,

Unfortunately, I cannot help with Pardan or Grabatz.  My people were mostly north of Temeschwar. But the DS lister, Hermann Volltrauer, whom you mention interests me.
There is a VOLTRAUER line of mine that started with an ancestor who arrived in the Banat in 1784 along with my wife's JAKOB line (apparently on the same raft or barge.
If Hermann is reading this, could you please contact me through these posts or with a new post with heading VOLTRAUER in BANAT.  It is very possible, this surname
belonged to unrelated ancestors, but you never know.
