My father settled in England after the war and took the decision to bring us up speaking English although, to the best of my knowledge, we were welcomed with open arms despite the war. The rest of my father's family settled in the USA and Austria although I have since discovered an Argentine connection. Our family was well and truly scattered after the war but we, in England, have only ever spoken English...without forgetting our roots in the Banat.
