Hi Stacey,

The numbers in the parentheses refer to the number of another family in the book, usually the parents of a person, or the family # for a spouse’s family - in this case, it refers to the parents of Nikolaus:
Basting Nikolaus
* 12.11.1862 Lovrin (313.6) = Child # 6 of family #316 in this book.

You may also see numbers with 2 or 3 letters preceding the number.  That usually means the reference points to the family book for another village.

In the front of the book you will find a list of abbreviations used by the author, including the abbreviations for the names of other villages.

2. Johann        *02.05.1922                       † 02.02.2010 Nurnberg (BP 5/2010) - parentheses again?
                        ∞ S Rubla/Baragan BIEBER Margarethe, Perjamosch - this is not listed like other marriages and there is no other information. So is that the wife's name and                                                                                                                    Perjamosch the place they married? I'm not sure why there are no dates.

In your 2nd example, the “BP” stands for "Banater Post” and the number is the specific issue.  The Banater Post is a German language newspaper published in Munich for the descendants of Banaters from the villages in what is now Romania.  The newspaper publishes a list of birthdays, anniversaries and deaths in each issue.  This helps to track families that left the Banat and relocated to Germany

The marriage is different because it took place in the Baragan region.  After WWII, many Banaters were forcibly re-settled on land in the Baragan steppes of Romania.  The records are incomplete, but the author had some information that Johann married Margaretha BIEBER in the Baragan, but did not have a specific date; Perjamosch is the name of the village that Margaretha was from.

Googe is an excellent resource for finding more information on all of these topics, such as the Baragan Deportations.

Hope this helps!

* 12.11.1862 Lovrin (313.6) - What does the number inside the parentheses stand for?

Also

2. Johann        *02.05.1922                       † 02.02.2010 Nurnberg (BP 5/2010) - parentheses again?
