Hello,

There is a birth record for Andreas FILCSEK, born April 8, 1888, in Franzfeld (Kačarevo). But no other records for FICSEK, whereas FREI is a common name in Franzfeld.

Philipp Gerhardt

Dear everyone,

I need help tracing my great-great-grandfather’s lineage. According to family stories, he was born in Pancova (also known as Pancsova, Pančevo, Панчево, or Pantschowa). I recently discovered his parents’ names and religion, but I’m stuck and need assistance to verify if the family stories are accurate.

That's all the information I know about him;

Name: Andreas Filcsek (or it could be Filcsek András / Филцек Андрија / Andreas Filček)

Place of Birth: Pančevo, Torontal County, Austro-Hungarian Empire (modern-day South Banat District, Vojvodina, Serbia)

Date of Birth: April 8, 1882 (The marriage record says he was born on the 8 of April in 1888, so I don't know which date is right)

Mother's name: Johanna Frei

Father's name: Andreas Filcsek (the same)

Wife's name: Catherine Petrov (Petró/Petrov Katalin)

Place of Marriage: Dunaföldvár, Hungary

Date of Marriage: January 6, 1914

Children:

Kálmán Mihály (1914-1981) - Kalman Michael

Mária Janka (1920-1920) - Maria Janka

András (1921-1921) - Andreas

Katalin (1922-1923) - Catherine

Erzsébet (1922–?) - Elizabeth

Birthplace of Children: Mezőfalva/Herczegfalva, Hungary

Place of Death: posibbly Mezőfalva, Hungary

Date of Death: before 1940

Religion: Evangelical

Occupation: Shoemaker's assistant

His father passed away before his wedding (so before 1914), but his mother was still alive at that time.

I have written to the archives, but they haven’t responded (it’s been months, and I doubt my request has even been read). Professional family tree researchers charge an unaffordable amount, and traveling to the area isn’t possible for me at the moment.

My primary goal is to confirm whether Andreas was truly born in Pančevo.

Once this is confirmed, I would also be thrilled if anyone could help me find any additional details, such as:

1.The name of even one of his siblings.

2.The date of his parents’ marriage.

3.The names of his grandparents.

Thank you so much for any assistance you can offer!
