I found your latest discussion with Dave/Bill very interesting regarding the large number of Palatines that ended up in Ireland. There were single family migrations from unusual places.
I found that John/Johann Hamilton, an early military governor of the Banat province (in Hungary) of the Austrian monarchy was a Scotsman and lived in Temeschwar/Temeschburg in the 1730s.
His father was a high ranking military man in the Austrian army as well.

From my readings you are correct to conclude most migrants to Hungary in the 3 waves during the 1700s were poor. However, in some years, the Habsburgs (Charles/Maria Theresia, Joseph)
required the migrants to possess a minimum of 500 Florins (which I think was a fairly high amount).
