Re: Kreuzstätten

The Banat towns were small enough that the same surnames often show up.

In the photo Karen posted from the Kreuzstätten Familienbuch, I spotted the name KLOTZBIER (Michael) in the entry above THOMAS, as well as a marriage to a Marianna MAUS.  Both names are in my tree although it’s very distant.

Margarete MAUSS in my tree was born in Kreuzstätten in 1797.  She married Heinrich SCHMALZ (*1796 Kr.) in 1815.  The connection to me is that her great-great-granddaughter Susanna KLOTZBIER (*1897 Kr.) married Heinrich BENCSETLER (later Henry Bensetler) of Segenthau in 1913 after they had both emigrated to New York in the early 1900s.  He's my 4th cousin once removed.

As I often say, I’ve learned from genealogy that we’re all related to each other, just some more closely than others.
