I hope you are well and enjoying the green summer here in Minnesota. After the last couple of dry years, I find it lovely.
Anyhow. About the Ancestry DNA results. The odd thing to me is that I have a Banat grandmother, and a grandfather who descends from the Schleswig-Holstein area, and until the new results, Ancestry did not show me any German heritage. With these new results, my Northwestern Europe percentage has dropped being replaced with Germans in Romania.
My Banat family was in the Serbia area and ultimately moved to Romania outside Timisoara. So I suspect that there are enough persons in that region with similar DNA for Ancestry to be able to plot the results.
It would not surprise me at all if they were using the trees to reverse engineer the data so that it confirms the Banat region. Who knows? It will be interesting to watch.
