Dear List Members,

after a few months of absence, I am back again to share with you some photographs of the Roman Catholic church and cemetery of a forthcoming Banat village.

It is about Keglewitschhausen, this small village about halfway between Tschanad and Altbeba. Keglewitschhausen is one of the westernmost villages in Romania, 3 km (2 miles) from the Hungarian border and 11 km (7 miles) from the Serbian border. In 1900 it had 1200 inhabitants (98% of them Germans), now it has only about 600 inhabitants, none of them German.

The village was founded relatively late (only in 1844), with German families from nearby Tschanad. The village was named after count Gabriel Keglevich, who was then president of the Hungarian Royal Chamber and was responsible for settler affairs too.

The Keglewitchhausen cemetery and church general view photos can be downloaded for free from this link until 14th February. There are 42 photos, the size of the folder is 210 MB.

In the "online group preview" feature, the images may appear blurry (because they are large), so I recommend either viewing them individually or downloading the whole folder to your computer.

David,

feel free to upload this folder to the website too!

Stay safe,

Tibor
