Just a brief addition and a small clarification to the topic of Germans in Transylvania (Siebenbürgen, Erdély).
The first wave of German settlers arrived in Transylvania around 1160, when King Géza II of Hungary began a large-scale settlement of the eastern part of the country in the mid-12th century. The Germans arrived mainly from Flanders, Brabant, Moselle, Lorraine and Luxembourg.
So the ancestors of the Germans from Transylvania arrived not decades, but centuries before the German settlers in Banat.
Greetings,
Tibor
